God loves all people, even though all people are sinful, rebellious, and undeserving of His love. That's why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ. He sent Jesus to be our Savior, to reveal His love for all people, and to bring His love and forgiveness to all by Jesus' sacrifice upon the cross for our salvation.
Faith Alone
By Jesus' suffering and death upon the cross, God acted to save all people. Through His saving act upon the cross Jesus paid the price for our forgiveness and has given the opportunity for eternal life to all people. Those who hear this Saving Message and learn to trust and believe in this good news will receive eternal life as the gift of God. Through Word and Sacrament in the Divine Service of worship, God creates faith to believe in Jesus Christ and gives all people His love and forgiveness.
Scripture Alone
The Word of the Lord, the Holy Bible, is God’s true and inerrant Word. In the Holy Scriptures God reveals both His Law which provides a guide for our living and His Holy Gospel which proclaims the Saving Message of Jesus Christ.
Active Christian Believers
A strong worship life, and faithful service to the Lord through His Holy Church is an expression of our Christian faith. It’s not something that is dictated to people, but it is instead an outpouring of our love for Jesus as our Savior through the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. We invite you to become a part of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church where you will grow in faith towards Jesus, love of God and others, and you will gain the ability to live as a person of God, a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ, and a person moved by the Holy Spirit to share the love of God with others.
The Sacraments of God's Holy Church
We believe that God uses Means of Grace, which act as a way for God to bring His Love and Forgiveness to us. God uses the Holy Bible as it is proclaimed, read, or sung, to open our hearts to His Holy Spirt who then creates faith within us. God uses Holy Baptism and the Sacrament of the Altar, Holy Communion, to give these gifts of faith to us and then to strengthen the faith within us. We believe that through the simple water of Holy Baptism, God washes us clean of our sins, forgiving and then adopting us as His dearly redeemed children. We believe that in Holy Communion Jesus Christ is really present with His Body and Blood in, with, and under the simple bread and wine that we eat and drink. In Holy Communion, Jesus brings us the forgiveness of sin and the promise of eternal life and salvation. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
